If the European central bank had loaned to Greece directly instead of going through banks with incredibly high rates (18%), Greece would not have been in that situation. The rest of Europe will be treated in the same way soon if we don't stop the financial system to alienate our world. The Greek people are not responsible for this I hope they will recover soon. Lia and Aggie, I wish we could discuss that in front of a glass of wine. I wonder what Adonis thinks of this "is this another shoe-makers conspiracy? ..".

Love

Yes Nico, agree , agree , agree! It is a mindboggling situation. Perhaps the only solution is to go back to very basics. And perhaps there is too many of us in cities. I take Aggie's informed perspective too.

The sad thing is that many people out there think this are isolated incidents, that it wont affect them...my heart goes out to Spain,Greece,Italy and France, because they seem to be the ones mainly affected, and only because of media reports...but we are living a time of fake economy in Britain and we are and will be affected more than we are now, but once again the media doesn't report enough of it. It's true that countries need to become more self-suffcient, by that I mean creating an export market that you can count on,it's been too many years of importing products from Asia that we used to manufacture ourselves.Create an export market then you create jobs for this market... .And like you, what I really hate is that all the sacrifices that my parents did for me( helping me to start my life in Britain, paying for my university fees...) and now I only wish I could do more for them, when it should be the time in their life to be happy and relaxed knowing that their country is going to take care for them.
It's funny how I had the same thing, coming from Spain and know been living in Britain for nearly 13 years, i always had most of my friends in Spain asking me WHY???. For the past 2 years I haven't heard that question...People with debt and new families in front of them are now asking me HOW CAN WE DO THE SAME.As an example ,one of my good friends, an Architect(with 5 years of study behind him) is asking me if its worth him coming over to learn the language and work as a cleaner (by the way, nothing wrong with this) because the only thing he is accumulating in Spain is debt on him and his family( has had to move back to his mums house for the past year). And I had to tell him that he would suffer the same risks here, at least in Spain he is close to his family and that at the end of the day counts for something.
Anyway peace and love Lia.( see whats happened after a drunken chat on a night out...).

The difference Greece has from the other countries in crisis and indeed Argenina too, is that it has no primary sources, no production and no exports. Therefore defaulting would plunge the country in incredible poverty, no fuel and no food would be the immediate result, and only villages with their veggie patches and cattle would be little affected, but the big towns and cities would be in serious trouble. So choosing to default wouldn't exactly be the "dignified" solution in my opinion. Today is one of those days that instead of Sunday roast it is your food for thought we needed, thanks love xxx
